Swerves @ Cafe Nola – November 27, 2019

Swerves – Indie pop with a blatant edge that finds itself through finger picked melodic guitar parts and vocal melodies that follow until the dynamic bass and hard hitting drums supercharge the songs with emotional turmoil. The band hits its biggest potential in the subtle build that never quite resolves within the song “Read Receipts”. The absolutely packed NOLA crowd seemed ecstatic for Swerves as their sound mends very well with the bar’s typical crowd goer. Swerves is dreamy – poppy through the vocals and clean spacious guitar – indie through the song structures – and moving through the tight and precise connection the rhythm section has in the songs whether softer or harder; the instrumentals always fit the mood and pitch of the singing.
